So here’s the thing.. I LOVE Christmas decorating LOVE..IT and I take it pretty seriously.
Every year on the 1st of Dec I pop open a bottle of champagne, make a ridiculously huge (heart attack inducing) cheese plate and I spend the night decorating my place..every inch of it!
This year however through the jigs and the reels, that didn’t happen and I spent the 1st of Dec
amongst the broken and bewildered, number 316 in the returns queue in IKEA.
Not a drop of champagne in sight and not so much as dairy lee triangle to be had.
I blinked and suddenly it was Christmas week but my decorations were still in a friends attic..Panic set in..I refused to be one of those people without so much as a strand of tinsel decking the halls
(don’t judge me.. my secret love of turquoise tinsel cannot be denied)
Enter…Tesco Extra.. At 10pm on Dec 20th I dashed around the store in a Christmas frenzy, 15 minutes later I had enough gold sparkle in my trolly to make Dame Edna proud.
Arms laden with my shiny loot I popped open a bottle of fizz and got to work. I filled every bowl and vase with baubles (laziest and best Christmas trick in the book!!) and ‘Trimmed’ my beloved wire lamp in sparkly gold glass lights and gold glitter budgies, threw some tassels on the front door and hey presto, instant Christmas!
Yes there was no tree, and yes I would have liked a little more..well more.
But as far as a last minute, late night dash to Tesco goes… I’m pretty happy with the result…and when in doubt…just light some candles…and drink more champagne….
Merry Christmas everyone..xx
