One of the things I love to do most is update properties for sale or rent and this two bedroom apartment in Dublin 8 is definitely one of my favourites.
The apartment itself is a good size and has a great layout but it had been rented out for years and it just needed a little TLC before being put on the market as a short term holiday let.
I try to reuse as much of the original furniture as possible so in this case I kept the sofa and simply had the covers cleaned. I also up-cycled two old bedside tables from the bedroom into a long narrow coffee table (on casters) which runs nearly the full length of the sofa but allows guests to walk on either side freely.
The bathroom was a little outdated and there had been a slow leak which, over the years, had done some damage so we replaced the original suite and flooring. By removing the bathtub and using a smaller sink we were able to squeeze in a decent sized shower.
As this is a holiday let I left the kitchen mostly as it was (just a scrub, a lick of paint and some cute new teapot handles) but stocked it with new pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc. Bedrooms were kitted out with new neutral linens that could be laundered altogether between bookings.
And that’s it! Fresh as a daisy and ready for guests.
